Dr. Sally Ride to Deliver Opening Keynote at TCEA 2008
In her keynote speech, Ride will share her experiences as a NASA shuttle astronaut and tie these stories to her experience as a scientist and to the need to encourage all students’ to pursue their natural interests and abilities in science. An advocate for improved science education, Ride will also discuss the importance of engaging students in cutting-edge science content and persuading students to think about solutions to today’s most pressing issues, such as climate change.
Sally Ride Science recently released two new supplementary learning kits on the topic. The Climate Change and Earth’s Precious Resources Classroom Sets blend the latest science and environmental concerns with current ideas and solutions for facing our climate challenge and creating a healthier planet.
Ride has written five children’s science books and has spoken at more than 200 events for girls, young women and teachers. She is also recently retired as a professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego.

The Texas Computer Education Association’s 28th Annual Convention & Exposition will be held Feb. 4-8 in Austin at the Austin Convention Center.
